On Behalf of Mr. Fluffy by @Cpin42

  (actual letter & reply)

Dear Best Friends,

My wife and I are vacationing in Belize this spring, and we are considering lodging our cat (“Mr. Fluffy”) with you. You have an excellent reputation among our friends and family, but I have some questions regarding one of your amenities.

Reading your brochure, I was happily surprised to note that you offer “bedtime stories.” My wife and I have faithfully read to Mr. Fluffy since he was a kitten. While pleased that he will continue to enjoy this ritual in our absence, I was wondering if you took requests. I ask this because my wife and I have a somewhat peculiar situation.

After trying many of the popular bedtime stories, the only one that truly captured Mr. Fluffy’s attention was The Velveteen Rabbit, which we have read to him every night for the last six and a half years. Complicating matters is the fact that my wife was born and raised in France, and finds it soothing to read the story in French.

I understand that this is an unusual and perhaps extravagant request, but if you have any French speaking people on staff, we would greatly appreciate it if one of them could read the story in French. If this is not an option, we would happily settle for someone reading the story in a French accent. As I don’t speak French myself, I sometimes compensate in this manner. Although I’m sure Mr. Fluffy realizes I’m not speaking proper French, he seems grateful for the effort. As we would be for yours!

Please get back to me as soon as possible. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
